What a summer for the books! QueenLyfe Inc. provided social-emotional programing for 255 participants of The Boys and Girls Club of Brazoria Co. through Project Mona Lisa Summer Edition. Some of our areas of focus included S.T.E.A.M., self-acceptance, affirmations, anti-bullying, and the power of collaboration. Special thank you to The Boys and Girls Club of Brazoria County for the opportunity, the QueenLyfe Inc. Board of Directors, and our volunteers LaKitia M. Woodard, MBA, Brionya James, Alexis Moore, Jasmine Neely, and Eutearia Hubbard, M.Ed. who made this experience LYFE changing.

Project Mona Lisa was designed for multicultural girls ages 11-16. This program allows participants to build a solid foundation of self-love and self-worth. Through our L.Y.F.E. modules, our participants engaged in interactive activities focused on overcoming low self-esteem, conflict resolution, various career exploration including careers in S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M., high-school/college readiness, financial literacy and most importantly, connecting with their inner beauty and protecting the masterpiece within.

Why is Project Mona Lisa important?

The common age a child enters sex trafficking is 14-16 years old. Depression among adolescences has increased by 40% within the last 5 years. Depression increases a teen’s risk for attempting suicide by 12 times. It is crucial that we equip our youth with the foundational life skills they need to identify their greatness and make sound decisions. Our outcomes include an increase in academic performance, improved attitudes, fewer delinquent acts and reduced emotional distress (student depression, anxiety, stress and social withdrawal). Holistically, as a result of Project Mona Lisa, young women have an opportunity to find comfort in their identity and have a clear vision of interests and talents. We are asking for your financial support to continue impacting our future leaders, sow a LYFE seed by visiting here.
